I don't know who is in charge of SDK updates but this latest update install is lame. It fails to install because SDK update locks out file changes because it is running so update can't update itself. After a bit of Googling I found this work around, copy and paste the Android tools folder then run android.bat in the folder.
I have been slowly working my way through "Sams Teach yourself Android application development" book. Doing all the examples and exercises but sometimes the book leaves out major steps in the code and I ended up downloading the code from the publisher to see what was left out of the book.
One thing I need to research is resource usage of different layouts. For example does LinearLayout take less memory and/or processor cycles versus RelativeLayout? How is the speed of the apps effected?
Sadly it's been almost a month since my last post and only about 15 hours devoted to study and practice. I need to refocus my efforts and find the motivation. I have been making lists of possible apps I could make such as a miles per gal app. I know it's not original but if I waited till I had an original idea then I might never make my own app. I might make a better version or at least one better suited for what I need.
